26 November - Correcting the mistakes

Digging for drains Digging for drainsAnother day, another excuse to spend our money. I asked the contractor’s man what is going on this time; it’s the only way to get a straight answer. Apparently the surface water accumulates at this point and another drain is to be installed. I’ve not seen puddles here but water does accumulate on the other side of the road. And why are some of the pedestrian refuges being excavated and then filled in again? Because they are a centimetre too high, as if that makes any real difference to road safety. But better I suppose than in Bromley where it seems to be policy to have the traffic islands about 25 centimetres above the road surface and where destroying front suspension systems is what that council does best.
