The unusual site banners are to bring attention to the fact that Labour activists in Bexley are manipulating Facebook Groups with fictional posters. They deny it, threaten police action for ‘harassing’ a fictitious character and then demonstrate their willingness to impersonate by creating a false Administrator account in my name. The banner on display is chosen randomly from a selection of three, with a fourth bearing the familiar Bexley Council is Bonkers logo.
16 October (Part 2) - Lesnes Abbey and Crossrail
The occasional comparison of the progress being made at Lesnes Abbey and at the end of Wilton Road no more than 500 metres away shows one common factor. Only the most observant of people would notice any change to either.
The
Lesnes Abbey Visitor Centre must be close to being complete and only a year late too! Sometimes
the shutters are down and at other times up. When they are up it really does look finished as
does the forecourt but the paths around it are still muddy.
Three minutes walk away the view down Wilton Road is changed for ever. The
station roof sports a plastic membrane and on the northern side the wooden roof
beams which trailed behind those to the south are now all in place.
Installation of the drainage systems and support piles for the Crossrail track
and platform have also advanced considerably, although one pile and one hole
looks much the same to the next one to me.
I understand that installation of the final zinc covering of the roof is still
some weeks away if not months, but even without it a weather proof environment
is very nearly ready for fitting out the station. Only a year to go now.
The past two weeks in pictures
may be seen here.
