The unusual site banners are to bring attention to the fact that Labour activists in Bexley are manipulating Facebook Groups with fictional posters. They deny it, threaten police action for ‘harassing’ a fictitious character and then demonstrate their willingness to impersonate by creating a false Administrator account in my name. The banner on display is chosen randomly from a selection of three, with a fourth bearing the familiar Bexley Council is Bonkers logo.

23 October (Part 2) - Local election campaign gains momentum

Oh well, that one didn’t do much good did it?

MomentumMabel Ogundayo hasn’t been shortlisted to replace the irreplaceable Teresa Pearce MP. Nor has my own Councillor Sally Hinkley.

Apart from former Bexley Councillor Abena Oppong-Asare I don’t know much about the shortlisted. I don’t actually know an awful lot about Abena either, I tend to judge these things by the number of blogs in which their name appears. Abena scores 17 and Mabel scores 38 over the same four years.

Unscientific but it may indicate how energetic they might be.

On the other two I have had to do some rapid research. Nadine Houghton calls herself a trade unionist and feminist, that’s bound to get my vote.

Denise Scott-McDonald is a Cabinet Member in Greenwich. She is responsible for Transport issues there. I can see how good she is at her job every time I drive to East Ham. (Today, later!)

But it’s not all bad news. I won’t have to back-pedal on criticising Corbyn while friends like Sally or Mabel are campaigning and without her being tied up in Parliament I may be able to come good on my never fulfilled promise to take Mabel as my guest to the Oval next year.

Trying to be fair to all at this early stage, here’s Nadine’s campaign video. I had better refrain from comment or she will likely block me on Twitter straight away.

Nadine Houghton, short listed by Labour for the MP vacancy in Erith & Thamesmead constituency.
